Welcome to FishSAFE
This site helps fishermen to fish safely in UK waters. It provides information about oil and gas related surface and subsea structures and is available in five languages.
FishSAFE Unit in Demand |
Since its launch there has been strong demand for the new FishSAFE Unit.
250 units have been sold at the price of £529 each plus VAT.
This price has been made possible by a grant from The European Fisheries Fund and the Scottish Ministers and by services provided without charge by FLTC Services Limited a not for profit company. FLTCS is supported by The Scottish Fishermen's Federation,The National Federation of Fishermen's Organisations and Oil and Gas UK. The company is funded by OGUK and by some of their member companies.

The heavily subsidised price applies to the first production run of the units only. Once the first units have been sold any further units ordered will not benefit from the grant awarded and are likely to cost considerably more than £529. Click here for further information about the unit.

FishSAFE Information Project - 'Call for Data' Enhancing the Safety of Fishermen and Protecting the Environment |
|
On the 1st April 2012, Schlumberger, on behalf of the FishSAFE Information Project, contacted all UKCS offshore oil & gas operators to request updated positions and information for their surface and subsea structures. This data is used to maintain the FishSAFE Information Project database (formerly KIS-UKCS) of oil & gas structures in UK waters. The FishSAFE Information Project data is compiled through cooperation between the fishing and oil and gas industries and is supplied to fishermen in their native fishing plotter formats to improve fishing safety and help protect the environment. Updates are provided on a 6 monthly basis. Following the submission of up-to-date information to Schlumberger, the data will then be formatted by the Kingfisher division of Seafish, for easy input into the wide variety of fishing plotter systems. This information will be distributed to fishermen throughout much of Europe and will be available to download from www.fishsafe.eu in July 2012. If you do not currently receive this important information and would like to be included in the distribution list, please contact Kingfisher using the details below. The FishSAFE Unit |
|
Advice to owners of FishSAFE Units: In 2011 a small number of FishSAFE units suffered damage as a result of over heating in an internal circuit. A modified circuit has been produced to remedy the cause of the damage. The majority of FishSAFE units which have been supplied have been modified without charge. FLTCS recommend that any owner who has not had his unit modified should do so without delay. Details of the arrangements for modification can be obtained by clicking here. |

| Version 19 of the KIS-UKCS data issued in March and
April 2010 was the final version of data for use in the old
FishSAFE unit.
All subsequent versions of the data, are suitable only for use in the new FishSAFE unit. It is important that any user of the KIS-UKCS data has the most up to date version of the data and a new unit on which to display the data. 250 new FishSAFE units have already been supplied at a price significantly reduced by a grant from The Scottish Ministers and The European Fisheries Fund. Any fisherman who wishes to order a new unit at the reduced price is advised to do so without delay while stocks last. |
